NIRA Precision FAQs

What is the NIRA Precision Laser?

The NIRA Precision Laser is the first and only painless at-home laser that is FDA-Cleared and clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes in just 2 minutes a day. Its unique precision tip makes it simple, fast, and effective to treat small, hard-to-reach areas such as crow’s feet and wrinkles around the mouth.

Our patented non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology works by gently heating the dermis to stimulate natural collagen production - revealing firmer, youthful looking skin in 90 days. With five comfort levels to adjust to your skin’s sensitivity, NIRA Precision is the perfect portable, handheld device to achieve clinical-grade wrinkle reduction in the comfort of your own home and without pain, redness, or downtime.

Who can use the NIRA Precision Laser?

The NIRA Precision Laser can be used by anyone over the age of 22. NIRA is safe to use and suitable for all skin types and tones. In order to achieve FDA clearance, our technology was clinically tested on 76 subjects (both women and men) for efficacy and safety. Please see the instructions for each device for a full list of contraindications.

What does the NIRA Precision Laser feel like on the skin? Does it hurt?

The NIRA Precision Laser feels like a warm, pulsing sensation on your skin. The laser features 5 power (or comfort) levels that enable you to adjust the laser to your skin sensitivity.

If you are new to NIRA, we recommend starting on power level 1, seeing what it feels like, and gradually adjusting your power levels from there. As long as you feel warmth during treatment, and not pain, you are getting the benefits of the laser.

When can I expect to see results and what should I expect to see?

You should expect to see visible wrinkle improvements within 60 days and dramatic results after 90 days of regular use. We recommend applying the Hyaluronic Acid Serum after your NIRA Precision Laser treatment as the serum provides quick results while the laser provides dramatic, long-lasting results over time.

We are so confident that you’ll love your results that we offer a 90-day money back guarantee.

Can I travel with the NIRA Precision Laser?

Yes! The NIRA Precision Laser is a portable, wireless device that travels well. NIRA Precision is small enough to fit in a carry-on bag, does not need to be plugged in for use, and contains a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery. If possible, we recommend packing the device in its original packaging to avoid damage.

Treatment

How do I know the NIRA Precision Laser is working?

The NIRA Precision Laser works by gently heating up the water in your skin to stimulate natural collagen production. If you feel a warming sensation while using NIRA Precision, the laser is working. To get the results illustrated on our website, you need to use the laser routinely - 40 pulses per eye, per day, for 90 days.

If you’re just starting out, set your NIRA Precision to level 1. Place the device tip to your skin and press the treatment button to fire the laser. A successfully delivered pulse is confirmed by 2 beeps. The first beep indicates that the laser has begun firing. The second beep indicates the laser has finished firing for that one spot. After 40 pulses are successfully completed, you will hear a jingle which indicates that you can move treatment to the next area.

Note: If you hear the initial pulse followed by the error tone, the pulse was not complete; you likely pulled the laser off the skin too early. Readjust the device, be sure the face of the laser is fully pressed against the skin, and fire the laser again. Hold the laser in place until you hear the second high-pitched beep.

How often should I use the NIRA Precision Laser?

Consistency is key when it comes to stunning results. The NIRA Precision Laser works similarly to exercise and muscle, it takes time for the collagen to rebuild, and the best results are seen with continued routine use.

For best results with the NIRA Precision Laser, treat your skin daily for 90 days or more according to the instructions. For possible enhanced results, you may treat twice a day; in the morning and the evening. We recommend waiting at least 1-minute before retreating to each area. Daily usage is recommended on an ongoing basis to maintain results.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser in other areas besides around the eyes?

The NIRA Precision Laser is FDA-Cleared for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and is proven safe for use on all skin areas on all skin types and tones. We have many customers that have reported improvements with wrinkles around the mouth, forehead wrinkles, dark circles around the eyes, and other blemishes on the face. We plan to get further FDA clearance for these other treatment areas to guarantee broader results.

How should I prep my skin before and after using the NIRA Precision Laser?

You may use any facial cleanser prior to your NIRA Precision Laser treatment. The lasers should be used on clean, dry, healthy skin.  After each treatment, we recommend using our all-natural Hyaluronic Acid Serum to lock in moisture, diminish the appearance of aging, and drive antioxidant activity - resulting in softer, smoother, and firmer looking skin. Follow the serum application with a moisturizer to maximize hydration, and of course, don’t forget your SPF!

How many pulses am I supposed to use per treatment area with NIRA Precision?

We recommend 40 pulses daily around each eye area. For possible enhanced results, the NIRA Precision Laser can be used twice a day. We recommend waiting at least 1-minute before retreating to each area.

If I use the NIRA Precision Laser on a higher power level, does it mean that I will see results faster?

If you are feeling warmth, then the NIRA Precision Laser is working. We do not have official testing that proves that using the NIRA Precision Laser at a higher level will decrease the amount of time needed for results. However, we have had users report seeing results faster when using the device at a higher level, sensitivity permitting.

After 3 months, do I still need to use the NIRA Precision Laser every day to maintain my results?

The NIRA Precision Laser works similarly to exercise and muscle - it takes time for the collagen to rebuild and the best results are seen with continued routine use. NIRA Precision will stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production as long as you continue treatments. Daily usage is recommended on an ongoing basis to maintain results.

The NIRA Precision Laser can be used twice a day, morning and night, for possible enhanced results. We recommend waiting at least 1 minute before retreating to each area.

What happens if I completely stop using the NIRA Precision Laser?

Collagen naturally breaks down over time with age, ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and environmental pollutants. The NIRA Precision Laser helps build new collagen, which is naturally depleted over time with age, environmental pollutants, and sun exposure.

If you stop your NIRA laser treatment, you will likely start seeing natural signs of aging over time as new collagen production will no longer be stimulated. We recommend using the NIRA Precision Laser daily to continue stimulating natural collagen production for a brighter, firmer, and younger looking complexion.

Think of it like brushing your teeth. No matter how healthy and white your teeth are, once you stop brushing, they will become dirty and discolored.

What happens if I stop using the NIRA Precision Laser temporarily for a week or so while traveling?

It is not a problem if you need to stop using a NIRA Precision Laser temporarily - just start using it again when you return. However, the NIRA Precision Laser travels well, so you can always take it with you!

For best results, we recommend using the NIRA Precision Laser daily according to its instructions. You should start to see visible wrinkle improvements within 60 days of regular treatments and good, long-lasting results within 90 days of use. If you stop using the laser during your initial 90 days, your results will most likely be affected.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser every other day and just double my pulses?

For possible enhanced results, you may use the NIRA Precision Laser twice a day; in the morning and evening after cleansing and drying the treatment area.

However, if you can only use it every other day, then doubling the number of pulses may help you get the treatment needed to help promote natural collagen production for younger looking skin. We recommend waiting at least 1 minute before retreating to each area. Do not treat more than twice within a 1 hour period.

Can I treat each area more than once per day with a NIRA Precision Laser?

You may treat twice per day for possible enhanced results. We recommend waiting at least 1 minute before retreating to each area. Do not treat more than twice within a 1 hour period.

In addition, make sure that you move the laser to a new spot for each pulse. If you treat the same spot twice in a row, the heat in your skin may build up to a point where you feel discomfort or pain. This is not recommended and should be avoided. If you feel warmth, and not pain, your NIRA Precision Laser is working properly to stimulate your natural collagen production.

Will I see results faster if I treat with the NIRA Precision Laser more than twice per day?

For possible enhanced results, you may treat twice per day with the NIRA Precision Laser. However, we do not have official testing that proves that using NIRA Precision more than twice a day will decrease the amount of time needed for results.

Please note that we recommend waiting at least 1 minute before retreating to each area. Do not treat more than twice within a 1 hour period. In addition, make sure that you move the laser to a new spot for each pulse. If you treat the same spot twice in a row, the heat in your skin may build up to a point where you feel discomfort or pain. This is not recommended and should be avoided. If you feel warmth, and not pain, your NIRA laser is working properly to stimulate your natural collagen production.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser without the Hyaluronic Acid Serum?

Yes, the NIRA Hyaluronic Acid Serum is designed to complement the laser but is not required. Our ultra-hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum works to tighten the skin instantly while the NIRA Precision Laser provides dramatic long-lasting results over time. When combined, they offer the fastest acting solution to fine lines and wrinkles!

Technology

What is a skincare laser for home use?

A skincare laser for home use is a compact, portable device that uses laser technology to provide skin treatments in the convenience of your own home.

NIRA’s at-home laser is FDA-cleared and clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles without pain, redness, or downtime. Our patented non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology enables you to achieve the same clinical-grade results as professional fractional (or ablative) laser treatments, but at home, at a fraction of the price, and without any side effects.

What is non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology?

Non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology is a type of laser treatment that stimulates collagen production and promotes skin rejuvenation without removing the outer layer of skin. This type of laser delivers targeted thermal energy to the deeper layers of the skin, which stimulates collagen synthesis, improves skin texture, reduces wrinkles, and tightens the skin.

NIRA’s non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology works by gently heating the dermis to stimulate natural collagen production - revealing firmer, youthful looking skin in as little as 90 days. By harnessing the power of laser energy without damaging the skin, non-fractional and non-ablative laser technology provides a non-invasive alternative for wrinkle reduction without any side effects.

By comparison, most facial lasers either at-home or in-office are called "fractional lasers" and/or “ablative lasers”. Fractional or ablative lasers work by removing skin layers and destroying columns of tissue causing skin cells to die, which signals your body to produce more collagen to repair the damaged skin. This process often causes redness, scarring, inflammation, pain, and downtime.

What differentiates the NIRA Precision Laser from other at-home skincare devices?

NIRA has developed the first and only painless at-home lasers that are FDA-cleared and clinically proven to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles in just minutes a day. It’s important to note that the NIRA Precision Laser does NOT use LED light - NIRA Precision is an actual laser for home use. NIRA’s patented laser technology is 200x more powerful than LED and 190x more powerful than competing at-home laser light technology.

Unlike competing at-home skincare devices, NIRA’s laser treatments are simple, fast, and effective - and are a fraction of the price of in-office anti-aging treatments. The lasers are designed to be used on clean, dry, healthy skin - no messy gels or primers required! In addition, NIRA is proven safe and effective for all skin types and tones.

NIRA’s non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology works by gently heating the dermis to stimulate natural collagen production - revealing firmer, youthful looking skin in as little as 90 days. With five comfort levels able to adjust to your skin’s sensitivity, NIRA Precision makes it possible to get clinical-grade, long-lasting wrinkle reduction in the comfort of your own home - all without pain, redness, or downtime.

How does NIRA Precision’s technology compare to the fractional or ablative laser treatments at a dermatologist’s office or med-spa? What in-office laser treatments have results equivalent to NIRA’s at-home results?

Lasers have been used in the dermatology space since 1960 and are proven to have numerous skin benefits, one of the biggest being that they reduce wrinkles. The NIRA Precision Laser uses the same laser chips found in many professional laser systems and our clinical study results are comparable to those from professional systems. However, our technology is different in several important ways that makes it even better.

NIRA Precision uses the same semiconductor laser diodes tuned at 1450 nm targeting the peak absorption in the dermis layers. NIRA uses a lower power per unit area and a non-fractional, non-ablative approach to avoid pain and erythema (redness). The NIRA laser spreads the energy over daily treatments over the course of a month, whereas a dermatologist typically treats with all the energy in one visit per month. Over time, NIRA Precision puts in more energy than most professional treatments do in a single visit and is able to generate equal or more skin wrinkle reduction. For example, a typical dermatologist treatment uses 18 Joules per cm2, whereas the NIRA Precision Laser will provide 90 Joules per cm2 at power level 5 (more than 4 times the energy), or 64 Joules per cm2 at power level 3, over a month of daily usage.

NIRA Precision is the first and only painless, non-fractional, non-ablative at-home laser treatment that is FDA-Cleared and clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. With five comfort levels to adjust to your own skin’s sensitivity, it's now possible to achieve the same great results as you would in-office, but at a fraction of the price and without any pain or irritation.

By comparison, in-office lasers (also known as fractional lasers and/or ablative lasers) work by destroying columns of tissue and causing skin cells to die, which signals your body to produce more collagen to repair the damaged skin. This process causes redness to the skin, inflammation, pain, and downtime.

How deep does the NIRA Precision Laser penetrate the skin?

The NIRA Precision Laser uses a 1450 nm wavelength to penetrate into the papillary layer of the dermis (where your collagen and elastin cells are located) and gently heats the dermis to painlessly stimulate natural collagen production.

Clinical

Is the NIRA Precision Laser safe?

Yes, the NIRA Precision Laser is safe to use and suitable for all skin types and tones. In order to achieve FDA clearance, the laser was clinically tested on 76 subjects (both women and men) for efficacy and safety. The laser was also tested and certified for electrical and laser safety as well.

Is the NIRA Precision Laser effective for all genders?

Yes, the NIRA Precision Laser is effective for all genders. NIRA Precision is also safe to use and suitable for all skin types and tones. In order to achieve FDA-clearance, the NIRA laser was clinically tested on 76 subjects (both male and female) for efficacy and safety. The study showed that there were no significant differences in response rates between genders.

Are there any side effects to using the NIRA Precision Laser?

Though not common, NIRA Precision may cause some temporary redness immediately after use but that should fade within a few minutes. A small portion of users may also experience mild stinging and discomfort. Please see the Instructions for Use for NIRA Precision for a full list of possible side effects, indications, cautions, and precautions.

Can I go in the sun if I am using the NIRA Precision Laser?

Yes, we do not have any evidence that suggests that the laser will cause any sensitivity to the sun. However, we always recommend wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Please note that the laser is meant to be used on unbroken, undamaged skin so you should avoid using a NIRA laser on sunburned skin.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser if I have neurotoxin or filler injections?

Many customers incorporate NIRA Precision Laser treatments into their skincare maintenance routine in between injections to help extend their results and time between each appointment. Using the NIRA lasers for maintenance can be an effective way to minimize the cost and frequency needed for injections. Due to the NIRA only penetrating into the dermis layer, injections under the skin are not impacted by the heat.

However, we recommend waiting 2 weeks after your appointment to allow your injection site to heal before using the NIRA Precision Laser, and letting your injector know that you are using both methods together.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser If I am planning a cosmetic procedure (like neurotoxin or filler injections, IPL, or laser hair removal)?

Yes, as long as you are using the NIRA Precision Laser on clean, dry, unbroken and intact skin. We recommend waiting 2 weeks after your appointment to allow your injection or treatment site to heal before beginning or resuming your NIRA laser treatments. In addition, we always recommend letting your physician or skincare professional know that you are using a NIRA laser prior to receiving any treatments.

Note that many of our customers incorporate NIRA into their skincare maintenance routine in between neurotoxin or filler injections to help extend their results and time between each appointment. Using the NIRA Precision Laser for maintenance can be an effective way to minimize the cost and frequency needed for injections. Due to the NIRA only penetrating into the dermis layer, injections under the skin are not impacted by the heat.

Can I use other skincare products with the NIRA Precision Laser (such as serums or retinoids)?

Yes, the NIRA Precision Laser can be used with other skincare products (such as serums or retinoids). Please note that the laser should be used on clean, dry, healthy skin. You may use any facial cleanser prior to your NIRA laser treatment.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser on dark or tan skin?

Yes, the NIRA Precision Laser is safe and suitable for all skin types and tones. NIRA Precision was designed to be equally effective independent of the melanin levels in the skin.

NIRA’s patented, non-fractional, and non-ablative laser technology uses a wavelength that is absorbed by water in the dermis to stimulate natural collagen production - resulting in visibly firmer, youthful looking skin in 90 days. Because the laser pulse is absorbed by the water in the skin, the efficacy of the NIRA laser is not affected by the level of melanin or pigmentation in the skin.

Please note that NIRA is meant to be used on unbroken, undamaged skin. Avoid using a NIRA laser on sunburned skin.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser if I have sensitive skin?

Yes, the NIRA Precision Laser has 5 power levels (or comfort levels) that enable you to adjust the laser to compliment your skin sensitivity.

If you are new to NIRA, we recommend starting on power level 1, seeing what it feels like, and gradually adjusting your power levels from there. As long as you feel warmth during treatment, and not pain, you are getting the benefits of the laser.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser if I have a history of skin cancer?

The NIRA Precision Laser is recommended to be used on healthy, intact skin only. Please do not use NIRA Precision if you have a history of cancer or pre-malignant moles. If you are unsure, we recommend consulting with your physician or medical professional before using the laser to ensure the best safety and performance.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser if I am pregnant?

No, it is not recommended to use the NIRA Precision Laser if you are pregnant, nursing, or undergoing fertility treatments. Please see the Instructions for Use for a full list of contraindications.

Can I use the NIRA Precision Laser with other at-home skincare devices?

NIRA Precision is intended to be used on clean, dry, undamaged and intact skin only. If you are using other at-home skincare devices or tools (like red light therapy, microcurrent, etc.), we recommend using the other skincare devices in alternation with NIRA Precision to give your skin some time to reset. For example, you can use NIRA in the morning and other skincare devices in the evening, or vice versa.

If you are using other at-home skincare devices or tools that injure or puncture the skin (like derma rollers, microneedles, etc.), please refrain from using NIRA Precision on areas of skin that are broken or punctured. Instead, wait until the skin is fully healed before treating it with the NIRA Precision Laser.

Troubleshooting

What if I hear excessive rejection tones?

The NIRA Precision Laser needs to be placed completely against the skin to fire. The rejection tone indicates that the device tip did not have full contact with the skin. If you hear this tone during treatment, reposition the device tip and make sure there is full skin contact. Keep the device stationary during each laser pulse. Please note that the laser should be used on clean, dry, and intact skin.

If you need to troubleshoot an issue with a NIRA Precision Laser, here’s how:

  • Press the power button to turn the device off. Press the power button to turn the device back on. This will recalibrate the capacitive sensors. For a full reboot, hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Gently place the device tip completely against the skin and press the treatment button with your thumb.
  • You will hear a series of two beeps. The first beep indicates that the laser has begun firing. The second beep indicates the laser finished firing for that one spot.
  • Do not move the device until each pulse is complete.

Be sure to move the laser to a new spot for each pulse. If you apply treatment to the same spot twice in a row, the heat in your skin may build up to a point where you feel discomfort or pain. This is not recommended and should be avoided.

What if my NIRA Precision Laser stops working?

If your NIRA Precision Laser stops working, please first check that it is turned on and charged. There are also troubleshooting instructions on your device’s Instructions for Use manual. If you are unable to resolve the issue, please contact our Customer Support team at info@niraskin.com.

What if my NIRA Precision Laser will not turn on?

If your NIRA Precision Laser will not turn on, please try charging it with the provided USB to USB-C charging cable for more than 1 hour. If this does not resolve the problem, please try resetting the device by holding the power button for 15 seconds.

How long do I need to charge the NIRA Precision Laser and how long does a charge last?

The NIRA Precision Laser will fully charge within 3 hours. You'll know that the laser is fully charged when the battery indicator lights stop flashing. Please note that the laser will not work while it is charging and that you must unplug your device to begin treatment.

A fully charged NIRA Precision Laser will last approximately 4 hours of continuous use. This equates to several weeks of daily usage between charges. Please note that this time will vary based upon your settings and treatment time.

How do I know when the battery is low?

If the battery is 50% to 100% charged when you turn on your device, both lights above the charging port will be illuminated. If your laser is less than 50% charged, the top light will not be illuminated. If you are about to lose your charge, then the bottom light will flash.

To charge your NIRA Precision Laser, plug the USB-C end of the provided charging cable into your laser. Then, connect the USB end of the cable into a power adapter (sold separately) and plug it into a wall power outlet. The lights above the charging port will start to flash.

The first and only painless at-home laser with a small enough tip to target hard-to-treat areas around the eyes and mouth.
